April has photographed with Freeland Photography since 2011 shooting weddings, sessions in studio, lifestyle newborn sessions, family sessions, and commercial events. Her work has been featured in Lee’s Summit Lifestyle Magazine (February 2013) and EA Bride (Summer Edition 2013 and NYE 2015 Wedding). April’s experience first began with a love for photography at an early age and after having her first child, she discovered her passion for the field once again. She took online photography courses through UCM and continuing education courses with the Kansas City Art Institute after buying her first DSLR. Her personal drive to learn combined with her hands on experience at Freeland Photography has gotten her to where she is today. April loves working with clients one on one to create their vision during their session. April’s style of photography leans more towards photojournalism with a touch of guidance to create natural-looking photos that you will forever cherish. Capturing natural moments and true interaction in her subjects is her ultimate goal. When she isn’t photographing people, she enjoys outdoor photography, film photography, working in the darkroom and black & white architectural shots. She always has a camera with her even, if it’s just her iPhone camera, so she can capture moments and sights as they occur.
When she is not behind the lens, you will find April riding any and every rollercoaster within her vicinity at every opportunity available. You might also find her cruising in her Jeep listening to 90’s music shamelessly or cheering on her kids in whichever activity has caught their attention recently. Thanks for stopping by!
