My name is Mike Freeland, and I am the founder and owner of Freeland Photography. My career started in 1991 when I began working at a professional finishing lab, H&H Color Lab which is based in Kansas City, Missouri. While working at H&H, I built a rapport with many of the best professional photographers in the business at the time. This allowed me to become an apprentice and get my foot in the door. I gained decades of experience and knowledge in just a few short years shooting film and was offered a job with Jim Reed in 1994 as a full time professional photographer.

In 1997 I opened my own business, Freeland Photography. My business has flourished by leaps and bounds over the past fifteen years, thanks to the wonderful clients that have come through our doors.  I also credit this success to my business savvy and my continued push to offer the best photography in the nation.  We have a staff of incredible artists and employees that have dedicated their livelihoods to helping create unique work that is quality and artistic.  Over the past decade my work has been featured in The Knot, KC Weddings, KC Magazine, EA Bride, Spaces Magazine, Perfect Wedding Guide, and the Kansas City Star. As a photographer, I love the challenge of the ever changing environment - Perfect for on location weddings, events, and commercial assignments.

I am a family man and I enjoy spending as much time as I can with my wife of fourteen years Jill and our three children Sophie (9), Will (7), and Max (5).  I am a high school graduate of Truman High School in Independence, Missouri and attended college classes at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kansas.  Our operations recently relocated to award winning Downtown Lee's Summit, Missouri.  We appreciate the friendship and support our neighbors on the Historic Independence Square provided for many years with our business, and look forward to maintaining that friendship and developing new ones in Lee's Summit.
